Clamping plates are bases in grey G25 – G30 cast iron used in the general mechanical sector to clamp pieces in any material and shape so that machining processing of any type can be performed: from controlling, mounting, machining with chip removal to motor and compressor running tests and the positioning and soldering of complex structures.

The composition of the material is very well suited to these applications since pearlitic structured lamellar cast iron has an excellent effect on the damping of vibrations caused by the removal of material during machining processes, an excellent thermal stability and therefore almost constant precision.

G25 cast iron is supplied with hardnesses ranges from 180 to 210 HB and a tensile strength of around 260 N/mm2 while the G30 has a hardness of between 190 and 230 HB and a tensile of di 300 N/mm2.

The slow cooling of the cast in the moulding box allows a good spread of the internal tensions caused by non-homogenous masses present in the casting structure (difference of thickness between ribs and plate), and therefore maximum machinability and an excellent stability of the finished part.

An important characteristic of this product is its modularity: width1500 and 2000 and height 300 or 350 mm, with L from 2000 to 7000 mm in one single piece, means that we can guarantee coverage of almost any work field. The plates can be anchored by cast iron to the floor through cement casting channels, or they can be mounted at working height using levelling columns.

The capacity of the plates can vary according to the customer’s requirements; in fact, by replacing the type of levelling element used we can withstand loads ranging from 15 T/m 2 to 50 T/ m2.

The plates are supplied with all installation accessories such as anchorage columns, levelling trough closure covers with OR, semi-flat tension rods, tension rods linking the columns, micrometric levelling elements, hoisting eyebolts, levelling keys, cooling liquid collection channels, etc.

The structure of the plates is such that it can accommodate 12 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 28 / 36 T-slots (larger sizes can be supplied on demand) with accuracy to DIN 650 with interaxis of 150 / 175 / 200 / 250 / 350 / 500. These can also be obtained in a position transversal to the length of the base. Customised slots can also be supplied on demand. The tolerances of the slots can range from H7 to H12.

Surface machining is available by fine milling with Ra<1 or by planing: a particular characteristic of the latter is that it makes the surface harder and has a lower number of points of contact which prevents the annoying suction effect and makes it easier for the part to slide along the work surface.

Another important characteristic is that it complies with standard DIN 876 regarding the flatness of flat surfaces: this standard envisages a flatness error on the work surface which varies according to the length of the part itself (level I - III - III).
